Happy New Year! January is a time for fresh starts, chilly weather, and wintery family fun! We have compiled this list of exciting family events to get your 2020 off to a fantastic start!
We also want to make sure we don’t forget to do the things that are often forgotten about in the midst of big plans and special opportunities. We will go to the public library and check out books. We will lie on the ground and look at the clouds and daydream. We will take morning walks on the beach and throw rocks into the ocean at dusk. Ice cream is for certain, as are walks by the lighthouse and around our neighborhood. We won’t forget about riding bikes, shooting hoops, blowing bubbles, drawing with chalk, and searching for wildflowers. And we will grill and eat outside, play with water balloons, go swimming, play tag, roll around in the grass, search for bugs, catch butterflies, and be lazy and bored.

At this point in the Boston winter, it feels like the season will never, ever end. Tons of area museums, libraries, and organizations break out their best activities for February break, but what are you supposed to do in the wintertime that remains after break? It’s still cold, it’s still doing who knows what precipitation-wise, and you might get even more bored than you were before. Don’t fret — here are four ideas of things to do in the Boston area that will break up the late winter boredom beyond February break.
Life with children gets tricky in the winter. If your kids are anything like mine, they need to get lots of energy out on a daily basis. We don’t do well sitting at home all day. When it’s below freezing, and you can’t send your kids outside to play in the yard all day, how do you survive the long winter months? I have some great indoor activities to share with you!
We at Boston Moms Blog love a delicious craft beer. We also love our children. So why not combine them? Craft breweries are usually family friendly (and lots of times dog friendly too!). So pack some crayons and coloring books, and head out to enjoy one of these terrific breweries in the Boston area.
We all want to expose our kids to the excitement and education that Boston museums have to offer. And many museums offer free admission on select days!
When your child begins to mutter, “Mom, I’m bored!” you'll know it's time to check out these free (or cheap) things to do in MetroWest Boston this summer.
