Today we all cried.
Some of us cried because we miss our friends.
Some of us cried when the iPad was taken away.
Some of us cried while struggling to share mommy’s attention.
Some of us cried when we were refused more treats.
Some of us cried when we had to go for a walk and did not want to.
Some of us cried when we accidentally got hurt playing too rough with a sibling.
Some of us cried when we could not agree on a movie.
Some of us cried when we had spaghetti again for dinner.
And Mom cried, too.
Mom cried when her husband still had to go to work.
Mom cried because she misses her sisters and friends.
Mom cried when she did not have time to make herself lunch.
Mom cried when she failed to have the kids do any school work.
Mom cried when she realized she needs help but has no one who she can ask.
Mom cried when the toddler accidentally smacked her face so hard.
Mom cried almost every time a child said they were hungry again.
Mom cried when her daughter said she wanted a playdate.
Mom cried when the toddler asked to play when she was too exhausted to.
Mom cried at the immense overwhelm of this situation which made her children cry to see their mother cry.
Her children hugged her and snuggled her.
Mom decided tomorrow would be a better day than today.
And it was.
