Boston Moms Blog is thrilled to partner with Jammin' With You to provide info about their always-fun music classes!

Few things make my children happier than music. The second I turn on their favorite song, all three of them are up dancing and jumping. My 5-year-old knows the words to every song played on Kiss 108, and my almost-2-year-old twins walk around the house constantly singing the theme song from “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” — “Oh Toodles!”

Taking their love of music as my cue, I decided to get my girls involved in a music class this fall, and we couldn’t be happier with their experience at Jammin’ With You in their JamBaby class! The classes are engaging and well thought out. The curriculum, which is an ever-evolving process, is seasonally themed and provides each child an opportunity to sing, dance, and get their sillies out. Unlike many music classes in the area, the songs are a mix of familiar music, unique songs by Josh’s band, Josh and the JamTones, and even a few throwbacks such as the Ghostbusters theme song, which was a great addition to their Halloween-themed class a few weeks ago.

While my girls love their music class, my son is ready for the next step, so Josh invited me to observe his music theory class, JamKids. To be honest, I was surprised that the songs were the exact same as what I had observed in my daughters’ class. However, what was different was the knowledge and involvement of the children. I was so impressed by the intelligence these 4-6-year-olds were expressing — drawing music notes on the board; discussing the difference between quarter notes, half notes, eighth notes, etc; reviewing the music alphabet — but not without tons of laughter and movement. It was a way for these kids to learn music in such a fun, comfortable way that I don’t think they are even aware of how much they are learning!
