Parenting- Boston Moms

In an ideal world, parenting would be effortless, with a guide for every situation. However, we all know that’s not the reality. Each child is unique, requiring special love, care, and nurturing. So, without a parenting manual, what can you do? That’s where Boston Moms comes in. Our team consists of more than 40 contributors from different backgrounds and family structures, bringing a diverse range of experiences from various walks of life and parenthood.

Parenthood is an amazing journey, filled with challenges and beautiful moments. The anticipation and mixed emotions during pregnancy mark the beginning of this transformative experience. The newborn phase brings sleepless nights and countless diaper changes, but oh, the incomparable joy of witnessing your baby’s first smile! As your little one blossoms into a curious toddler, the journey transforms into a whirlwind of managing tantrums, fostering independence, and cherishing their first words and wobbly steps. The school years unveil a whole new spectrum of challenges, as you navigate the delicate balance between academics, extracurricular activities, and the intricate world of social development. And as the teenage phase unfolds, their identity takes shape, boundaries are established, and the need for open communication becomes paramount. Every stage of motherhood, though it can be tough, strengthens the unbreakable bond between a mom and her child.

Our goal at Boston Moms is to be there for you during every stage of parenthood, offering resources and support. Whether you need guidance or just someone to be there, we want to walk alongside you in your parenthood journey.

This is my third year of the great American back-to-school frenzy tradition. I’m embarrassed to admit I'm here like I'm in the middle of a blizzard and I forgot to buy a shovel, much like my former roommate the...
I'm hurrying around the kitchen fixing everybody lunch. One wants turkey — no cheese — and bread with no crust. One wants turkey and cheese, no bread. My phone vibrates. It's an important email I really should answer right...
I remember back-to-school shopping as an 8-year-old. When I hit the mall with my mom, I was looking for the finest Bart Simpson T-shirt money could buy. Maybe some new sweatpants, too, if there was any money left over,...
Make no mistake, there are wonderful and valid reasons to strive to have family meals as often as possible. Extensive research has shown that engaging in family meals is linked to fewer depressive episodes, greater academic achievement, more positive...
Six years ago we brought our oldest son home from the hospital. Hours later, I sat in my living room, trying to help him latch. My cat plopped down in front of me and started lazily licking herself. She...
As a mom, one of the most common questions I am asked is how many children I have. When people hear that the answer is five, I am typically met with one of three reactions: Wide-eyed shock (“Five? You...
I don't know about you, but I love a good park playdate. The kids get to run wild and free with their friends, we all get a little fresh air and vitamin D, and I get to chat with another...
When my husband and I started dating, he had the absolute worst college roommate — ever. John had no regard for cleanliness and hygiene. He never did the dishes, he bought new underwear instead of doing laundry, and he left food...
A few weeks ago, my family took a morning trip to the beach. After two hours of prep, four missing hats, and one lost set of keys, we were off — only to get halfway down the street and...
I love surprises. I love experiencing surprises, and I love keeping surprises even more. We were astonished in November when we discovered we were expecting our third baby. As my due date is right around the corner, I wanted to...
Before kids, we had cats. Ophelia and Sebastian were our pets for over 15 years. When our oldest child, C, was about 3, the cats passed away. They were our "children" for over a decade. We were heartbroken and...
If there is one thing all moms know, it's how incredibly fast kids go through clothing. Whether they grow out of them in a matter of weeks due to an unfortunately timed growth spurt or ruin them at the...
