Erica Soma has been a fitness professional in the Boston area for over three years. After growing up in sunny California, she pursued a BA in Exercise Science from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. She arrived in Boston to pursue her MS in Exercise Science, Physical Activity, and Public Health from Northeastern University, and completed the degree in December 2012. Erica’s education and research experience has shaped her evidence- based approach to wellness.
As a fitness professional, Erica specializes in working with pre/postnatal clients. Erica researched the benefits of exercise during pregnancy for her thesis work at Willamette, and was later published in the Journal of Caring Sciences. Her specialty in perinatal fitness was shaped by her experiences interning with Isis Parenting, where she observed over 100 hours of childbirth education classes, surveyed participants, and provided a plan to improve their fitness offerings. She brings together her understanding of childbirth, the human body, and movement to train every client.
Erica primarily instructs individual clients, but will be growing her class instruction in the Spring of 2015. She also teaches prenatal and mom/baby classes in the Boston area.
